re: re: Pregnancy Question/SWCAH Information to Shelia

My daughter who has SWCAH and is almost 9 asked me the other day if she could ever breast feed her own baby. This came up the other day when we were talking about a friend of our’s not being able to breast feed because she was on a medication. This triggered my daughter’s thoughts about if she would be able to breast feed one day.  Will she be able to do so?

Another question is, how do they medicate SWCAH patients during pregnancy? Do they increase or decrease? Do your levels fluctuate terribly? I just want some idea of what to expect so I can pass this info. to my daughter one day. Ok so she is only 9 but I keep a binder full of info. we can go back on and look at.

The other question I have is, how much does the medication you take affect the baby? Do they have to "wein" them off at birth? I know we are replacing what the body cannot make but we all know there are times you can get too much.

Another question I have is, what do they do for your labor? I assume all CAH patients have C sections because of the "high risk" pregnancy. I can’t imagine the body going through that hard labor without needed some major Solu Cortef.  Thank you for answering all these dumb questions. I am always trying to prepare my daughter for life. This is one subject we just so happen to be working on. Thanks so much!
