Hello everyone. My almost 9 years old daughter that has SWCAH has had Chicken Pox to puking this year. We have got through the first 9 years with a few scattered E.R. visits and NEVER but maybe one Solu Cortef injection until this year. I am not sure if it is her body changing and her medication needs are changing with it or what. We have done just about it all this year when it comes to viruses. This weekend marks the third serious virus in a one month time span. We had to have her injected with Solu Cortef the first week in May, and now she had to take a trip to the E.R. last night for some IV fluids, SoluCortef, and a drug to stop her vomitting. I think she has sucked up every virus that has passed her nose. The E.R. doc. made me nervous and said if she continues to get these viruses we need to get some testing done through her ped. to make sure there is nothing hindering her health. Her endo. thinks she is not getting enough Cortef and we found she was undersuppressed last bloodwork but have not had a healthy enough month to get her levels rechecked since we upped her meds. We are starting a new healthy lifestyle that I will become insane healthy woman over. I will be the sugar, junk food police. I plan to cut out EVERYTHING and start from scratch. We already are insane hand washers and can go to a public toilet, use the toilet, flush, open a stall door, wash our hands, and then open the main door without touching a surface. Yes it is something amazing to see with your own eyes. We don’t eat healthy enough so that is our next crack down. I plan to have her live on Pomagranite juice by the gallons. Ok my question is (can you tell I have had no sleep from my babbling?) My question is this. She had stopped vomitting by the time we got her in the car to go to the E.R. BUT for protective measures the E.R. doc. ordered her that drug to stop her from feeling nausiated. There are actually two kinds and can’t remember the name of the one they used on her last night. My question is this. After you have given your child or used them as a CAH patient yourself, have you experienced a LOT of sweating afterward? WOW, on the way home from the E.R. she asked us to open the windows and it was a chilly night here in Ohio. She was sweating SO bad and bearly had but a Tshirt and jammie bottoms on. I had icicles hanging off my nose. We carried her to bed and there I monitored her throughout the night and noticed without covers, she was still sweating pretty badly with the window open, and fan on but not directly on her. It stopped about an hour or two later. She didn’t really have a fever either. She is a hot sleeper so she always sleeps in cold conditions. But this was crazy. The E.R. was WONDERFUL. I had the Endo. on call last night call ahead to get us in faster. They moved fast on her especially since her blood pressure was pretty low. She was dehydrated. We were there about two and a half hours. Got her fluids and that drug to make her not throw up and she was ready to eat by the time we left. She looks great today despite the long night. I think I am more tired. You know that adrenaline that gets you pumping. Ugh. This started as a tummy ache and ended up as a puke fest. I am designing a plastic bubble for her tomorrow. I have talked about it before here, and I think I have the blueprints to back me up. Thanks everyone. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz......Laura
