Sounds like the classic symptoms of an allergic reaction to me. Your son needs to have RAST testing done ( to figure out WHAT he may be allergic to) and be seen by an allergist. ( the allergist OR the pediatrician can order the allergy testing but it’s better by the allergist if possible.

Here’s our plan for my 9-yr-old son (CAH) with allergies (peanuts, tree nuts, egg.. also latex!)
Where he goes the "emergency shot kit bag" goes.
The bag has his epi pen, benedryl and his solu-cortef shot. It was made very clear to us that IF he were to have an allergic reaction that required the epi-pen... he would need to have the solu-cortef shot as well. Of course we would be going immediately to the ER as well.
At school, the epi pen ( not the solu-cortef) follows him to each class or function. The solu-cortef stays with the nurse. Every teacher and staff at his school are trained to use the epi-pen.
