Ten years ago, when my son was in infant, we used to put a bottle nipple with the ring in his mouth--once he started to suckwe squirted the meds (crushed with formula or breast milk).  Got every drop and never woke up.  We gave him his meds this way all the time until he was old enough to use just the syringe.

 

For the SC, we never had a problem with it in his bottle.  Once he started to eat foods, we put the sodium in that.  Loved the green beans that way!
