Isn’t it fun to research? Watch out for those skelteton in the closets too you may stumble across when researching. That is what happened to my mother when she researched. Whoo doggie. You find some interesting things about your family that is for sure.

When my mother in law asked her mother if anyone in the family had anything like my daughter’s CAH she said no BUT MANY in Poland where she came from had ambiguious genitalia cases. How they knew this is beyond me, but that is what she told my mother in law. Only one infant death, cause unknown, from my grandmothers family. All others were fine. My husband’s side of the family has juvenile diabetes in one generation. It scares me. They say many SIDS cases are actually are undiagnosed diseases. Thus adding to the reason NBS is so important have for those newborns.

Now I have mentioned it here before and never got a response from anyone. The genetics guy told us that everyone is related to each other some way. Of course. BUT some are related closer then others. THUS causing those medical mishaps to occur such as CAH being caused by that chromosome missing from each of the parents. It creeped my husband out when they first told us some are more closley related than others. It creeped me out a bit but I have a sick sense of humor and joked about it instead. Then when I asked his mom where everyone "got off the boat" sorta say when they first came to American, they said Boston which I guess many did in that area but I found BOTH sides of our families settled in that same town at the same time. I just wonder if some how that is our "close connection". I am not sure how close you need to be related for something like this to happen. I never asked the genetics guy. But I have always wondered if I was the only parent they explained it in that way to but have had no reply here yet. Who knows.

Have fun researching. You got far in your search! WOW.
