KarenIt’s easy to try and blame this on CAH or meds, and that probably has a part, but this sounds like PTSD - Post Traumatic Stress Disorder - to me. I’m not a shrink - there was just a lot of violence in my house growing up and I didn’t deal with it well. Your daughter’s got a lot of stuff she’s going to need to work through. That said, when I was suffering with PTSD AND wasn’t properly medicated for my LOCAH, it was A LOT worse.
Even though I haven’t heard much about PTSD and CAH, I think that if our bodies don’t deal well with stress, it’s not a stretch to wonder if we also don’t deal well with emotional stressors, making us more prone to PTSD issues. Not all trauma victims/witnesses get PTSD, so the question then becomes why some, and not others? They’ve proven that significant PTSD alters adrenal functions through studies with Vietnam vets and abuse survivors - is it the chicken or the egg?
