Tonia DHi! We have 2 daughters that both have ssw cah. The beginning of the school year is always nerve wracking for us. We have great nurses for the girls and a really cooperative school staff. We always worry a little when the year starts with the new teachers. We’re especially worried about our soon to be 5th grader. The school she will be attending this year has no AC. It gets VERY VERY hot in the school. We’ve already started working with the school but it’s still a huge concern. She does not do well with heat and can dehydrate before any of the classic signs appear.
I tried to copy the letter we use for the school (the one we created with our endo). It’s a quick but comprehensive run down on everything and is on one page. On the back page, it has all of their important info: name, dob, allergies, weight, height, meds & doses. It has our address and all of our phone numbers. It lists the ped endo & ped address & all phone numbers. It also has our billing and insurance info. We did this after grammy took the kids to Chicago and they were both admitted. I had a kidney stone so I had the insurance card. Now everything anyone needs is on one sheet of paper. Our school has what they call the CLINIC EMERGENCY ACTION PLAN. This sheet is given out to all the staff that will be involved with our children. At the beginning of the year, they take a picture of the kids and put it on top of the paper. It has her name, greade, teacher, and all of our contact numbers. The sheet continues to say "If you see this"........ lists symptoms, "Do this" ...... I would be happy to email anyone any of these documents. Abby will be going in the 5th grade this fall. So far what we’ve done has worked for us. You can email me at Tonia at caresfoundation.org. I would be happy to help.
Good luck to you!!!!
