re: Heat Wave....

Hi Laura-Thanks for the reminder!  2 summers ago I let my 10yr old dtr with SWCAH go to a friend’s house for a swim playdate.  As I usually do, I briefly explained my daughter’s condition and left the medical kit and instructions.  I also gave her plenty to drink, sunscreen to reapply and reminded her my daughter needs to drink alot even when swimming.  When I picked her up, she was  out of it. (Even the mother said she seems tired!-which was an understatement).  Lo and behold, the juiceboxes and snacks were untouched, she was sunburned and my dtr said they swam the whole time, and didn’t take a break until right before I came.  I had to give my dtr a Cortef pill, fluids and salty pretzels.  After an hour or so she was ok and I never let her go to that friend’s house for an all day playdate again!  Even a non CAH child needs alot of fluids in the heat, and it was just poor judgement on that mother’s part.  Happy Summer to all!
