county hospitals have tax based assistance programs besides other programs ......county hospital tax payers dollars and it’s everyones hospital

was wondering if you talked with someone in the finacial unit of the hospital. I’ve learned that other people that are well meaning will give incorrect information and seem so right about it  or have been told not to offer up info by higher ups. I don’t assume anymore.

from your post it looked like you were trying to pay for insurance yourself and not through an employer? and from my experience trying to do this? in the state that I live in nobody with prior medical conditions are able to do that but don’t take my word for that. I had private insurace in one form or another parents or my own and couldn’t afford it after cancer two years ago and forgetabout the CAH. I was able to get the tax based assisatance and was grateful for it- I worked all the way through the cancer also. Now, I have a better job but also a thyroid condition that needs to be monitored along with the cancer follow up and the CAH. But I now make to much for the tax based assistance and have to wait 7 more months for the work insurance to kick in to help cover the cost of the follow up for the prior conditions. I can relate to your frustrations and maybe a medical social worker could help.

i was a job coach in another life time for people with physical and/or mental challenges and the part where if you make this amount and you will lose your benefits is frightening. I think people that are semi- retired w/ limited income have this same type of situation. Kinda like a one step forward and two steps back. It’s disheartening and people that have never been in the situation or have an understanding can be so mean about it from their own fear.

it seems like you need insurance for a part time job and I think that the company Starbucks does offer that for their employees or what about working at bite my tongue for this one after everything gone through w/ CAH but what about working at a hospital? great benefits.

good luck
