I know state programs are constantly ever changing, but it seems to me that when they came out with the welfare to work program the program allowed for continued medical benefits and even childcare assistance when you found employment.  Even if you weren’t receiving a monthly check you could qualify.  Maybe things have changed, but it if you are only working part time and don’t have benefits those should continue especially if you have children.
