We have always:

1) used a topical anaesthetic cream 45 minutes before (called EMLA), and

2) given rewards (lolly or toy) after each test.

Now, age 7, there is a positive response to getting the bloods done... and sometimes we are even asked when the next one’s due!!

It’s hard, but you’ll work out a system that works for you. Good luck!
