I live in California too.  My daughter is only 11 and her Healthy Families only covers what you would consider normal medical care.  She also has California Children Services.  They pay for everything that has to do with CAH.  Meds, labs, her endo visits, x-rays, hospital stays due to CAH, surgery due to CAH.  Maybe you could get in contact with them and find out as an adult with CAH who you could contact in regards to insurance or help with insurance.  I can give you the number of my local office.  They just might be able to help.

And you should know that law has changed in regards to Medi-Cal and immigrants.  You must have a greencard or be a legal resident to obtain Medi-Cal or Food Stamps in the state of California.  My neighbors are not legal and they don’t get any assistance.  You have to show proof that you are here legally in order to get help.  They had to do that because there were too many illegal immigrants just in the city where I live that were getting welfare/Medi-Cal.

And Healthy Families is only for kids so it should be called Healthy Kids and you can only get emergency Medical if you don’t have kids if you end up having to have surgery and can’t afford it.  You can’t have the regular Medi-Cal if you don’t have kids.

It’s confusing sometimes
