natalieAll 3 of my kids have gone through kindergarten so I totally can understand what your unspeakable concerns!! Before school started I contacted the school nurse, met with the secretaries, his teacher and the principal. Actually, our school nurse is awesome and she said she would have a meeting with each of their teachers including the gym, art teachers and the playground supervisors explaining the things to watch out for with my children. I had "medical cards" printed up and when I met with each person who would be educating and supervising my children, I would give them a card. Also, the nurse & I created a new "field trip" form which provided language for them to administer their daily meds and any meds needed in case of any physical trauma. In the early stages, I telephoned the school at 2:00p just about every day to "remind" them to give my kids’ their medication. Everyone was awesome, reassuring and patient with me!!
A couple of times they gave my kids their meds 1/2 hour late, and they called me immediately!! ANYTIME my kids came to the office complaining of ANY kind of physical aliment they would call me!! I always made sure I had my cell phone with me!!
If you would like a sample of my "medical card", School Emergency Plan and/or the Field Trip form, just e-mail me and I’ll send them to you. Hang in there and remember, my law the school has to do everything possible to protect your children.
