j woodHi Ro,
We too have a 2 year old with no surgery. A while back my daughter would wake up early in the morning saying she had to go potty. I would bring her and it seemed her clitoris was engorged. This had just started happening to our knowledge around 20 months. I too thought it was uncomfortable for her, sometimes she would complain. I don’t hear her say anything about it anymore. I’ve concluded that it’s because her body was experiencing a new sensation, or she just lives with it. It’s one of those fun things about delaying surgery. There can be a lot of worry, though a lot of it is due to the unknown- most have surgery in infancy. I asked Dr.Poppas if these erections or whatever you want to call them were painful for women. He said only some women complained, others it didn’t bother. I’ve had the chance to ask a couple of women and one said it was bothersome but not a compelling reason for surgery. One women had ambiguous genitalia due to some other condition and she said it was painful at times and she had a procedure to loosen the surrounding skin. Just watch your daughter and see if she continues to complain. It’s probably just due to becoming more aware of her genitalia and its sensations. This was just my experience.
