crisis - be prepared!
Aug. 13th, 2006   4:52pm
My 18 yr old daughter with SWCAH just returned home from the hospital today.  She started feeling bad Thursday in the afternoon and by that evening was vomiting.  When she asked for her Solu-Cortef, I knew it was serious.  It seems she had a viral gastritis (stomach bug) or food poisoning (we think it was a bug) and the vomiting threw her into a crisis.  After days of IV fluids, anti-nausea meds, and rest, she is now feeling much better.  It has been 10-11 years since she experienced a crisis.  I have a habit of going through meds (not just hers) from time to time to check for expiration dates and discarding the old stuff and replenishing as necessary.  I had 3 vials of Solu-Cortef with experation dates from 2007 - 2009.  Just as a reminder, check your meds now and make sure you have current dates in case of an emergency.  She was pretty sick when we got to the hospital and this may have saved her life.
