Exactly what Michelle said. Keep an eye out for the fever. We don’t double for a cold unless my daughter has a fever also.

Just a tip for your peace of mind, I have a wrist watch that can chime every hour. I usually set this when my daughter is really ill with a fever. I NEVER go to sleep unless I bring her fever down to at least 100 or below. BUT when I do have the temp. down, I set my watch alarm to chime every hour to check on her to make sure her fever is staying down. Some may call me crazy, but I need the peace of mind knowing I can fall asleep in between checking her every hour. We need some focus and some sleep to care for our children properly. ALSO, I write down EVERY med I give her from her Cortef, to her Tylenol, to cough medicine. I write down the TIME given AND the amount. I found in the past when you are stressed, over tired and trying to tend to your sick child you can mess this up if you don’t write it down. My first lesson was when I called her ped. when she was sick with a fever, and they asked what time her last med was given, how much, and what was her current temp. I was blank. From that day on I write everything down and keep it by the phone in case I have to make a quick call to the doc. OR if I wake at 2 am and she is still fevering it and I need to give her additional meds. and can’t remember when or how much I gave her the last hour or two.

Also keep your medicine cabinet full. I keep two bottles of Tylenol and Motrin on hand in case she gets sick in the middle of the night. Who wants to go find a drugstore at 1 am? So keep your cabinet stocked! Along with those prescription meds.!

Push the fluids. And for the stuffy nose we would elevate my daughter’s crib at the head a bit so she could breathe easier. Also a cool mist humidifier helps us with the stuffy noses. We have always kept it cool at night for my daughter even when she isn’t sick so be sure to keep it nice and comfortably cool in her room. Give lots of kisses and remember, this too shall pass.
