CarolineTo M and/or Aimee,
I’m on my 3rd day of taking 30mg of hydrocortisone. Today i woke up and my hands were all swollen, like little wieners. i can’t see the veins on my the tops of my hands anymore. kind of like they thinned out. also my stomach has been nauseous for 3 days str8 now. my gut and back are aching and i’ve been having a splitting headache right in the middle of my forehead (3rd eye), like my head weighs a ton. Today i bumped my forearm against the fridge door, and it hurt like hell and bruised to a nasty purple puffy bruise almost immediately. This never happens to me. My skin is actually sore today, everywhere. like it’s tingling puffy sore. Did you experience all this too when switching? Could it be that i’ve been on decadron for over 18yrs (since 11yrs old), that is making the adjustment so hard? My mother told me my dr once tried to put me on prednisone when i a kid and i swelled up, and began bruising like crazy, so they took me off of it. Could it be that i don’t metabolize hydro as well as dex? This is much more than just a little depression and melancholy here... i actually feel ill to my stomach, my head throbs, i’m lethargic, my muscles are so weak, i’m sad, melancholic, and have swollen bruising skin.
To think that my goal for the switch was to end up having more energy, lesser appetite, no more fatty liver, and get below 200lbs. i thought hydrocortisone is really the best treatment.
thanks again for the support
