CarolineHi GM,
I agree that sucking back on gatorade all day long instead of water when it’s crazy hot outside isn’t a good idea. The florinef she’s taking is making her retain sodium like normal people. My endo has always told me that, and i went with it and never had problems. Only when doing exercise in the heat or heavy exercise period. Also, most endos don’t tell you people this but too high a dose of hydrocortisone prednisone or decadron eats up your potassium levels and gives you really bad heart palpitations. So a diet high in potassium is what my doctor always suggested, no matter what, since hydro sucks up potassium anyway. What i’ve always done instead of gatorade is this....it works so much faster and is more powerful electrolyte booster than gatorade. Orange juice, add a little salt packet to it. it has over 500mg of sodium, 750mg of potassium, 40g of carbs, 200% vitamin C that will kill the free radicals in her body from the workout, etc... it’s good stuff! and doesn’t taste that gross. the salt just kills the super sweetness and makes it less sweet that’s all.
take care
c
