re: To M...

Hi M.,

Thanks for the kind vote of confidence (lol!).

I was actually going to use your  relatively smooth transition from dex to cortef as "living proof" of the 80:1 relative potency! I think you have mentioned that you were on 0.25 mg of dex before switching?  At 80:1, that is equal to 20 mg of hydrocortisone (which is what I think you are taking now?).  Either by luck or by design, the conversion appears to have been figured out correctly in your case...hence the relatively few problems you appear to have experienced in switching.  Good for you!

Also, I know you’ve often mentioned feeling like 0.25 mg of dex was still too high, much like 20 mg of hydro may still be a bit too high?  Understandably, it would have been very difficult to lower your dex dose accurately, while remaining on the dex pill.  However,  it would have been possible to reduce your dex dose very slightly by switching to the liquid dex.  For example, if you wanted to take the equivalent of 17 mg of hydrocortisone, it would have been possible to measure out 0.22 mg of liquid dex.  (This is just FYI, in case you are faced with this again in the future.)

Anyway...glad to hear everything seems to be going well!  TC, Carol
