My 3 children have LOCAH and they have missed several doses over the 12 yrs of being in CAH!  One time when my oldest was 9yrs old she was with my girlfriend and her kids at a park.  My daughter vomited from spinning around and my friend did not even call me!!!  I was upset at the time, but calmly reminded my friend what physical stress means and gave her another one of my "cards".  Again, my kids are not SW which does make a difference.  Overall I’ve learned that we need to empower our children when it comes to their healthcare.  How did your child feel after missing his dose?  If he did not feel fatigue, then that is a clear indication to him and to you that he was OK, THIS TIME.  This is a great learning opportunity to teach him more about CAH.

You will go crazy and make your child paranoid if these instances are not handled with facts AND grace!  A friend told me recently that she was so afraid to have my daughter over to play because of LOCAH when they were in grade school.  She was so afraid that she would fall down, get a bloody nose, etc.,  so she only had my daughter over twice all during those years.  Now the girls are juniors in high school!  Needless to say, my daughter was at home a lot in grade school!

Theres a balance that will come to you in time.  Fear, trust, fear, trust, trust, fear, trust, trust, trust and so on!!

Hang in there!!
