teenager oversuppression questions
Aug. 24th, 2006   10:18pm

My daughter is 13 and is swcah diagnosed at birth.  She has always been in pretty good control, well managed.  The last couple years have been tough.  Weight gain, high 17-ohp levels, a couple of increases in Cortef.....  The endo prefers to get her 17-ohp levels done every 3 months and if an increase is needed then he re-tests her again in 1 month.

The concern I have is not really that she has gained some weight being on so much Cortef so much as it is this.... Is it necessary to so suppress her and make her take so much?

The other thing is that we have always been so careful not to miss doses.  To make sure of this we have always dosed her just twice a day (no doses at school).               8 am and 8 pm.  All these past years there was no problem with that. Lab results were just fine.  Now I wonder if the natural course of puberty may cause her body to react differently to when the medication is getting into her system.  Can that be possible?  Can a cah persons absorbtion of Cortef change and cause high results?

Someone give me some info.....
