re: teenager oversuppression questions

Hey, i’m 14 now and when i was younger my levels were alright all the way til i reached puberty, Then things went abit wrong and my weight started to go up acne and periods didn’t start, the reason the doctors have only just told me!(3 years later) is that being a girl in puberty the hydrocortisone somehow goes through too quick and that i was absorbing it too quickly to the doses i was given, again i was put on a higher dose of hydrocortisone with hope it would work but for me it didn’t and i spent a 1- 1/2 on prednisone which caused depression and finally my current meds dex but none worked out to begin with but now they have found a low dose of dex that works and my weights being more controlled, acne gone and periods started, my doctor said part of this is because i’ve been through puberty really and when i’m 15 (january) they’re going to try put me back on hydrocortisone tablet or the pump as because my body is older and gone thro puberty more hydrocortisone should work alot alot better with my body and not cause the side effects it once did, my opinion is being over suppressed was so so much better than being under supressed because weight was better than the side effects i got when i was under suppressed, now i’m on the best level for the first time in my life.

good luck with your daughter.
