Lisa V.Don’t go with the tattoo. My brother is a medic and he said that they don’t even look at tattos when helping someone. They look for bracelets and necklaces and on a young enough child an anklet. He said the coroner will look at a tattoo if they are having trouble identifying a body.
I’m not trying to scare you or anyone else, just really think about it, EMT’s are not going to change their procedures. My daughter is a big tomboy and she hates jewelry of every kind. But I sat her down and we discussed this and she wears her bracelet every day without complaints. There is also a medic alert sticker on the car window where she sits and that is where she sits every time we are in the car. In the event of a car accident emergency personnel are trained to look at the vehicle stickers to see if anyone has a medical need.
Personally I’d say no on the tattoo. I have a couple of tattoos and my daughter thinks they’re cool but she knows that if she wants one she has to be age 18 or older just like I was.
