Hi ckl,

I wish I could tell you something different, but with high acth, high 17-ohp, high potassium, seizure (probably caused by hypoglycemia, if the sodium level was normal), and failure to thrive issues, there is really very little room to doubt the diagnosis (in my opinion.)  I am also very sorry to hear of the death of your daughter.  But, her unexplained death along with her clitoromegaly, makes it even more difficult to believe that this could be anything BUT CAH.

I know it’s tempting to hold out hope that there is a mistake, but--again, in my opinion--the cortisol number, while unexpected, is not all that compelling when compared to the other problems. As Gwen’s son’s doctors also surmised, maybe it was just your son trying to hold on to life.
