You are right, it’s all in the same family. The cortef is easier for them to give me as I can get these pills by 5mg dosages. That way it is easier for me to get here when my endo raises it or lowers it, if that makes since. The hydrocortisone when they switched me said they couldn’t get hydrocrtisone tablets at 5mg. I don’t know why and ever since then I’ve been on cortef. The 20mg tablets are easier to take because I don’t have to do so much counting, but now I’m down to 5mg/5mg. But yeh, they are in the same family. As far as the questron goes, that binds bile together to control the diarrhea. After I had my gallbladder out I had bad diarrhea, but is also symptom of adrenal problems. I think that’s probably why I constantly feel like I’m going into a crisis because of the diarrhea. I drink lots of ice water to keep from getting dehydrated, but I know the diarrhea has to put stress on the adrenal glands. The questron does help, but I have to be very careful at what times I take it as questron can interfere with the steroids and can cause the steroids not to work. I take my steroids early in the morning about 7. Then around noon or a little later I take the questron. It comes in a powder that I drink. Then around 4 or 5 I take my steroid with supper for the second time. I then take my second dosage of questron around 9 or 10. Sometimes, I miss a dose of the questron because I can not stay up that late. It is hard as I tire out very easily and like to be in bed at nine. I found this book very fascinating, and it explains all the functions of cortisol production. It talks about the dangers of crisis, it was just very interesting, and it helped me understand more what to expect. I enjoyed it. Must go-Julie
