Saw your post and thats a good question. My medical books say they weigh about 4 grams each. When on steroids they shrink incredibley and "go to sleep". Steroids actually make the adrenal glands stop functioning, because the steroids are providing the hormone replacement. When going off them completely it takes about three days for them to " wake back up again". In between this time this is where an adrenal crisis can occur. Hope I was of help.- Julie
