Just jumping in here and I think that is a good question for your doctor. I know the steroids cause the adrenal glands to shrink or "go to sleep". I don’t know why this would be a different case for a child. I do not have an answer. I’m an adult. Last time I went to my endo I asked for a scan of my adrenals because I was paranoid of cancer. He said there was no reason to take pictures because the adrenal glands have shrunk and the steroids work for them. I am not a doctor or nurse and some of this endo stuff can be complicated at times. But I find it interesting. I’d just ask the Doc next time your in.-Julie
