EdenMy 2 month old son is suppose to take a teaspoon of salt a day--spread out between 4 or 5 doses. I never knew how totally disgusting salt was to babies. My son gags, throws up, foams at the mouth and cries and cries. I feel like I am torturing him by giving him the salt. I have tried it in formula which he refuses (I am breasfeeding, but someone said that putting it in pumped milk would put him off the milk). If I dissolve it in water he throws up. we are just putting it straight into his mouth and hoping it gets down his throat before he spits it out.
Is this a pretty typical reaction for babies? Does everyone else with babies have to give a whole teaspoon? It seems like a lot. It was never determined how much of a salt waster he was because he was diagnosed when he was 7 days old...before he started showing and symptoms of distress.
Thanks, Eden
