re: Salt...yuck

Our daughter’s doctor also prescribed 1/2 tsp table salt in her daily amount of formula. Of course, that was 15 years ago. I never heard of giving infants the sodium chloride until I found this site. My daughter did fine on the table salt. We just had a hard time figuring out how much formula she would drink in a day. She never was a big eater. She never took more than 4 oz at a time and finally broke herself from the bottle at about 9 months. Who could blame her. It tasted horibble! We would add table salt to her baby food for a while after that. Her doctor said that once she started eating regular food, there would be no need for extra salt because there is already plenty of salt in everything we eat. She does take florinef though to help her retain the salt she eats. Never really had a problem with her salt level. Now her other levels are a whole different story.... !
