We are in the same boat right now!  My son, who is 2 1/2 started to show a lot of interest in the potty about 3 months ago- so we encourage him to "try to pee" whenever he wants and try to make it a positive experience..........  even though it can be frustrating for me as a mom!!!  About a month ago, he wanted to go potty, so he sat and sat and then stood up and peed all over the bathroom floor!!!  LOL

But lately he actually tells me he has to pee and starts up the stairs and then goes!  His diaper has been staying kind of dry.......  so I think I might try to "push hard" soon.......... 

So my advice is try to make it fun and not intimidating.....  for us it seems like it is a natural progression.
