new baby on the way- more questions about dex and genetic testing

Hello all--

Been off and away for a while, but my husband I and just found out that we are expecting a 2nd child (our first was a SWCAH girl). Had one or two issues that I’d like to hear people’s opinions about.

First off, I’ll already been in touch my my perinatologist. I was always under the impression that they put you on dex the moment they found out that you were expecting, but she said that we could wait til I was 9 weeks along. Has anyone else waited a bit to go onto dex, or is this something I should talk to her about ASAP?

Secondly, my doc was talking about doing CV vs amniocentesis. What were people’s experiences with them and which one would you choose, given personal experience? I can see wanting to do a CV to get earlier results, but the doc was implying that amnio was safer. Oh- and where did they send the sample to have the genetic testing done?

Thanks in advance for all your help!

Martha
