Laura SI know how scared you must be. My daughter had surgery at age 16 months. It wasnt total reconstruction (I consider us fortunate), I think it was called Urogenital Sinus Reconstruction, it was done in Atlanta at Eglestons Childrens Hospital by a wonderful Pediatric Urologist. Anyway, I was so scared, mostly about what kind of pain she would be in and about her being put to sleep. She sailed through it like a champ. We were home about 2 days later and she was up and running around within 24 hours of that. Once she was out of surgery and back in my arms, the hard part was over. But I know I made the right decision for myself and my daughter. From your post it sounds like your daughters surgery may be a little more involved than mine, but I will be praying for you and Im certain all will go well. From what Ive heard Dr. Poppas is awesome! Be strong for your daughter. And remember, (I bet every doctor has told you this) children are Resilient!
