Thank you for letting us share your personal experience on this sensitive matter.  I found what you had to say very interesting and took comfort that we went down the same route for our child for those exact reasons.  There have been times when I’ve read postings from people who are anti-surgery and it’s made me feel guilty and wondering if I have done the right thing for my girl, knowing we chose surgery to save her from potential heartache.  I know some people reading this will shout me down and say it’s wrong and my daughter should have been given the choice but I’m sure she would have had problems about feeling different if she hadn’t had it done.  At least she doesn’t remember the surgery and is getting on happily with her life.  Thanks Collette and to your daughter for sharing.
