MomI am a mom of a 21 and a 17 year old SWCAH children. My exclamation Poppycock! is a little overstated because I do think it is reasonable to consider the temperature effect on the solucortef, but we keep one in every car glovebox simply because I know how real life goes and it is not always as planned. I have, over the years used a glovebox vial and outdated solucortef without adverse effects. We keep lots around just as a convienience. We don’t throw old ones out because I an outdated one is better than none if things are bad (ie and unforseen catastrophic event). We get them refilled and carry a good healthy vial in backpacks and overnight bags, but if we get in a car accident or sick away from home and for some reason don’t have any solu-cortef, a heated, out-of-date vial is better than none. I have never stored the vial in the fridge and have used much of it over the years (we do live in a temperate climate but it does get over 70 degrees on many occasions during the summer).
I think it is as important to live a full and I-can-do-anything type of life than it is to be perfectly prepared for every possible life threatening event. (kudos to elaine e). I would say to Tamarap, yes go get a second vial. It is a reasonable thing to do. But relax, your baby bag is a fine place to keep your solu-cortef.
