Cherry LaneThis surgery issue will be an on going controversy for all who choose to have it !
It is a personal choice of how one wants to repair or change there daughters ambiguous genitalia. It depends on the degree of verilization if the surgery is definitely NEEDED or if you choose to have it done for cosmetic reasons. Some feel that the surgery is totally cosmetic as they do not see an infant or young child needing to use the vagina opening at this point in there life and I believe this is the controversy about when they should have it done. I had my granddaughters surgery done when she was 13 months old, as I felt this is what would work best for us.......(HER). The best advice I have is to research the surgery and contact Cares foundation for any info they may have. They have an excellent reference of Doctors!
What is right for one family is not always right for another.......base the surgery on YOUR daughters needs and how you feel she will be seen by others and what you feel best for self esteem purposes. I hope this helps!
