My son will be 11 on 12/28 and his bone at is 11yrs.  His pubic hair is darkening as well.  In April his bone age was 8.5yr so it has advanced quite a bit in 6 months.  He has been off Cortef since August because his ACTH stim test showed that he made enough Cortisol to survive, however we would still have to stress dose him and he still must wear a Medic-Alert bracelet.  NIH says that it is OK for a boy to start puberty anytime after the age of 10.  That LOCAH in boys is not as bad as LOCAH in girls --- so what if he gets hairy - hes male!!  You do have to watch his bone age because you don’t want his growth to be stunted.  Therefore, once a boy is done growing and past puberty, if he is feeling well, then you may really not need much Cortef, according to his ACTH stim test.
