My 5 yr old son recently was diagnosed with simple virilizing nonclassical cah.  His symptoms included acne, body odor, enlarged genitals, and tall height.   He was started on prednisone 1.25mg at bedtime, and was increased to 2.5mg.  His 17HP level remains >5000, where it has always been.  I am concerned that his treatment has not seemed to help yet, and wondering how long I should expect till we see a response in his bloodwork.  Should his prednisone should be broken down in 2 doses, I was told only at bedtime.  His endocrinologist said if the prednisone dose increase didn’t work, we may switch to decadron.  Just looking for some insights.  Thanks.
