CAH shows a range of severity. Dr. Deborah Merke from NIH in her paper stated: Classic CAH is subclassified as salt-losing or non-salt-losing (simple virilising). Patient with non-classic CAH do not have cortisol defiency, but instead have manifestation of hyperandrogenism, generally later in childhood or in early adulthood. The later patients can present with early pubarche. 5 to 10% of children with precocious pubarche have been found to have non-classic CAH.
