Blood test VS. Urine test
Nov. 30th, 2006   7:11pm

Hello Everyone,

I would like to seek your advice on urine test.  I know most people with CAH have regular blood test (17OHP, androstenedione and Testosterone) to monitor hormone levels.  Has anyone used urine test instead? If so,  could you share your experience with me?

My daughter is 3 and half. She has SWCAH.  She will see her ped endo next Monday. I want to discuss with her ped endo the possibility to have urine test instead of the blood test because I read some research papers which says Urine test gives a better picture of how hormone level is controled over the day.  If it is better and I can spare my daughter from being stuck every 3 months, why not switch it? Also she does not have to miss her school day if we use Urine test. We can collect during weekend and drop at lab on Monday morning.

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks.
