You’re mostly right, Laura: my daughter was 3 when it happened. She felt naseous, and vomitted once, then we doubled her and she did not vomit again (we are instructed to inject only if - after vomitting once and being doubled - they vomit a second time within 30 min.) She seemed fine during the night, and I did give her drinks too throughout the night, but in the morning she was sitting on the couch and got VERY dizzy/drowsy and could hardly sit up!! THEN I gave her the shot and we dashed for the hospital. Turns out the dizziness was because her blood sugar was something like 2.9!!! They gave her some orange juice and she was fine! It never even occured to me to do this, and she has never had another episode like this one (thank God!); she’s now 9, and I make sure she gets lots of sweetened fruit juices when she’s sick.Wendy-LeeSo I agree: the salt is very important when they’re sick, but sugar seems important too.
