My son had a wart on his forehead, and like you it took a while to figure out that is what it was.  The doctor even said it might be a mole, but it continued to grow until it was obviously a wart.  We were successful with the compound w bandaids.  They have med. on them.  We put them on every night.  It took probably a month for it to go away.  Since it is on her hand it will probably not take as long.  My son would not wear the bandaids during the day to school because it was on his forehead.
