c.k.lhi all
actually i had a question for carol m who i havnt noticed for quite a while now,but if anybody else can understand and answer that i’ll be more then thankfull.
i have been trying to understand and evaluate my son’s (9 months +) lab tests but i get confused everytime.i learnt that in cah angrogens are over produced and cortisol levels get low but in my sons case both are low.
i got my son tested for the same and these were the results:
cortisol:1.06 ug/dl (low) morning,
17 ohp: 0.2 ng/ml(in range),
androstenedione: low < 0.04 ng/ml (i dont know if that low or in range),
acth:22.1 pg/ml(in range) ,
dhea-s: low < 15 ug/ml.
since his cortisol was low th dr. increased his med by 2.5 mg.well ok i understand it,but since his 17 ohp and acth are normal wont they go down too and get suppressed due to medication and wont his dhea level which should be high and is a major part for controlling the testesterone among boys get even lower.
i just want to know how to evaluate his labs. and if the dr.did the right thing by increasing his hydrocort.
thanks....
