My first thoughts are: is there a conflict with his teacher? (is he getting into trouble for some behavior or just clashing personalities?) Is there a problem with another child at school? (is he being bullied or picked on? Does he have to sit beside someone who is distracting or teasing him?) Is there some developmental problem that he’s having in school (I can remember DREADING school on the days that we had algerbra ... because I couldn’t "get it" easily, am a perfectionist, and was embarrassed to admit that I was struggling). Is he getting enough sleep at night? I think that kids that age should get a good 10+ hours a night, but every child is different; at that age my son needed at good 11 hours or he was a bear during the morning! If your son is tired, he might be missing work or just be "out of sorts" with his teacher and classmates ...not making for a very fun day.Wendy-LeeYou could certainly try Jen E’s suggestion too, and see if it might be a med. level problem. I would try talking to his teacher at school, and see if she/he can shed some light on the problem. Good luck!
