Sue,

Do not let CAH determine if you have any more children or not. I can remember sitting in the geneticist’s office after our first child was born (daughter with SWCAH), sobbing my eyes out about all of this CAH stuff. And he said to me....do not let CAH stand in your way if you want more children.  That was such a relief to hear, because I thought everyone would think we were crazy if we tried again, seeing all that we went through with our daughter (surgery, etc). So when she was 3 1/2 years old, we got pregnant. I took the Dex from my 4th week of pregnancy until I had the CVS at 11 weeks of pregnancy. We found out it was a boy, so I stopped the dex. Yes, he does have SWCAH, but they are 2 beautiful, healthy children that can’t imagine life without the other one! I would definitely do the dex all over again if we were going to have anymore children, just because in most cases it saves the girls from having to go through surgery. As far as the side effects....I wasn’t on it long, so I really didn’t have too many side effects. Mostly, I couldn’t sleep. Just felt hyper all of the time. So someone that has had to take the dex throughout their entire pregnancy could give you a little more insight into what it is like. But, keep in mind that every person  is going to respond to the dex differently. So, it maybe bad for some and not so bad for you! Good Luck!
