Question on Insurances
Dec. 18th, 2006   3:05am

Hi all:

It has been awhile since I have been on the site.  I hope you are all doing well.

I am looking for some information re:  Insurance coverage for CAH kids.  I currently work for a corporation where I have full benefits, including medical and dental.  My husband owns his own company so I am pretty much the benefit carrier of the family.

My work life has become increasingly difficult.  It is not uncommon for me to work 65-70 hours a week.  Of course, being salaried, I am only paid for 40 hours.  Anyhow, we have been seriously contemplating me leaving my job to work for my husband running his office and doing his billing (he is a chiropractor).

The only thing that is holding us back is we are not sure what will happen when we move to private health insurance.  My brother had private insurance last year and when he came down with some intestinal infection, they kept increasing his premium fees until he was forced to cancel the insurance.  I am concerned that this will happen to us with a SWCAH child.

Any insight anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated.  I am trying to do my due diligence before I make any rash decisions.

Thanks so much.  I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season.

Thanks,

Kristin (mom of Kenny - 7 SWCAH and Emily - non-CAH)
