When Ellie had her tubes put in, we double dosed the day before surgery and the day after.  For the surgery though, they gave her an IV and an injection of solu-cortef.  Last spring she had to have a tube removed surgically and we did the same thing.  Our endo felt the extra protection was important.  She came through both really fine.  Best of luck to you!  Your child will feel so much better with those tubes in.
