ValerieOur six year old son was just diagnosed with NCAH. Wejust began 5mg hydrocortisone 3x/day about 10 days ago. His bone age was between 11-12 yrs of age so it is critical to stop the bone age exceleration. However, he seems to be very sensitive to the meds and is particularly hyper, jumpy, and can’t seem to settle down since starting the meds. In addition, he has complained of more stomache aches and headaches. Has anyone experienced these side-effects and how long did it take to stabilize on the meds?
I am also curious as to his future prognosis. I am assuming he will be on meds the rest of his life. But he does appear (at this point) to have a milder case. So, is there a chance he might not need medication forever? Just curious.........
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Valerie
