ValerieHi Megan!
I do not have his ACTH test results here but I do know that they called it NCAH but said he is very similiar to SV because his results were quite high.
It all started about a month ago with our first concern was potential precocious puberty and was told by our pediatrician that it was probably just premature adrenarche and not to worry. But I had had an evening prior to my call to him to research on the internet and said, yeah, but what about him being so tall? We had always just assumed he was a big kid! So, I think just to appease me, he said let’s do a bone age. Upon those results I was immediately referred to an endo!!! He has always seemed to not be able to clear colds and things (almost always lasted 3+ wks and went and got anti-biotics) and has some allergies and extremely sensitive skin but that is about it. But, he has always been high strung and very "spirited". I had even read all kinds of books trying to see if he might have ADD, be gifted, asperbergers, etc. but nothing ever fit. Now something does help to explain him. But, he has never shown other signs - adrenal crisis, etc. and our endo says he is not SW. There are two types of classic correct - SW and SV, right? My husband and I both read "CAH, A Parent’s Guide" by Dr. Rivkees and C.Y. Hsu, but we seem to have different interpretations on that part!! He was trying to tell me if you are classic then you are salt wasting. I said no, not true. Who’s right?:)
Anyways, we are doing genetic testing in January and are going to see Dr. New in NY. I sure we will get the definitive answer then. However, I really appreciate your info as I did not really understand the difference as far as long term meds, etc.
THANKS! I feel like that is all I have been saying since stumbling upon this site -amazing how much support I found essentially by accident!
