Nicole, my daughter took depot-Lupron from the age of 5 (already in puberty) until she was 13.  The ONLY side effect she experienced was a little tenderness at the injection site which would be normal with any shot.  Depot-lupron worked very well for her and we kept her on it until she was 13 to get the most height we could and still allow her to go through puberty at a normal age. A word of advice - ask for EMLA cream to numb the injection site.  It makes it much easier to give the shots.  We went to the dr’s office for several months for the shots, but once we had the EMLA I started giving them at home.  Just to let you know, my daughter is 5’3-1/2" tall (I’m only 5’ and her dad is 5’7-1/2", so we’re all short!) and that is a good height for her given her genetics.  Puberty resumed within 2-3 months off of the Lupron.  Good luck!
