My son was recently in hospital having tests. He was feeling very nauseous, so we asked for something to stop the nausea. A few minutes after he was given the drug, he started to feel unwell, the veins on his arms and fingers on the arm he had his cannula in, became a very strange bright red. He said he could not focus properly and his tongue felt too big for his mouth. His arms then became very heavy and his neck and he could not lift his head from the pillow. Although my son is a teenager, I really panicked, I insisted they give him 100 mgs of hydro which they did and they also gave a dose of piriton. It seems I was wrong to insist on the hydrocortisone, as it was an ocular reaction only, it meant we had to abandon all the tests. I am really battling with this and have lost a lot of confidence in deciding what to do with regard to CAH. Has anyone else experience this? My son is old enough to make his own decisions but is depressed and would not increase his meds when needed as he is paranoid about his weight. He is not interested in the ins and outs of CAH, I feel like giving up but how can I turn my back on it all but then how can I carry on if I make mistakes?
